Citizenship in the Nation -- Third Assignment

The next Citizenship in the Nation MB Class will be held on Monday, March 3rd at 12:30 p.m. at the Scout House.  Arrive on time and be prepared.

Do the following for the third assignment:

Req 4.  Discuss each of the following documents with your counselor. Tell your counselor how you feel life in the United States might be different without each one.

      The Constitution

Use your MB booklets.  Older boys should consider reading the constitution.  Younger boys should use their booklets and might also want to check online for age appropriate materials about the Constitution.

Req 6.  With your counselor's approval, choose a speech of national historical importance. Find out about the author, and tell your counselor about the person who gave the speech. Explain the importance of the speech at the time it was given, and tell how it applies to American citizens today. Choose a sentence or two from the speech that has significant meaning to you, and tell your counselor why.

In addition, by the final class in mid to late March, each boy should do the following:

Req 2a.  Visit a place that is listed as a National Historic Landmark or that is on the National Register of Historic Places. Tell your counselor what you learned about the landmark or site and what you found interesting about it.

I know the old East Attleborough Academy (I think that's its name) adjacent to the Attleboro Y is listed.  The old Attleboro Post Office is also registered.  Check the internet and search for places close to you.  I am giving everyone more than a month to do this requirement since it requires you to drive some place and check out the landmark.
